How we write

A caption gets about one second under a photo to earn its place. Here is how the lines on CaptionFeed are made.

Drafting

AI writing tools help with first drafts. From there, a person edits every line before it goes anywhere near the feed.

Editing

Our editors cut anything that sounds stiff, any filler written to pad a list, and jokes that only work once. A funny caption has to still be funny on the third read, and a short caption has to say something, not just be short.

Originality

New lines are compared against the rest of the site so a caption never appears on two pages, and we skip phrasing that is already everywhere on Instagram.

Limits

No lines that punch down, no slurs dressed up as humour, nothing crude, and nothing that shames the person holding the phone.
